Poems: Tanka on the Summer (various contributors)

Tanka on Summer

         Some beautiful tanka (Japanese poem with the form with 5-7-5-7-7 syllable for a total of 31 syllables). It is definitely longer than the haiku (another Japanese poem form). I choose summer because I think this is the most memorable season in my life (good or bad). My birthday is also near the summer season (in the Philippines). Enjoy and cool ourselves under the shade of a tree sipping a cold drink or in thePhilippines, a halo-halo. And read this short tanka.

SUMMERTIME
Lightning Bugs in jars
Serve as night lights in our room.
Crickets chirp in the air.
Summer nights are made for fun
And one more bowl of ice cream.
